It's the disappointment of realizing the reliance of 24's writers on recycled plot devices is killing your enjoyment of the show on the same day your copy of Baseball Prospectus 2009 arrives. The usual one-day 24 hour moratorium on details will be observed, with the exception of that link a sentence ago.

Pardon JB already you dumb bitch!
- About the flash drive...
a) It's almost as though they've forgotten what they've done in previous years. We saw the exact same trick near the end of Day 2, pulling the drive out of the dead guy who won't/can't talk. I like the idea of callbacks to previous years, rewarding those who have stayed with it, but re-using an old device isn't the same as just referencing it. Stephen Saunders being part of the Day 1 storyline: cool. Doing the same thing in Day 7 you did in Day 2: not cool.
b) By the same token, I have to give them credit for not letting the smarmy bad guy wipe out the flash drive (even though the explanation didn't seem sufficient), as it looked. That seemed too reminiscent of the smarmy bad guy wiping out the flash drive in Day 5.
- I'm still not sold that Tony's completely a good guy.
- Seriously? They're going to mount an attack on the White House?
- Yes, Jerry, they should issue a pardon. But that would ruin the artificial tension of someone under investigation being asked to save the person doing the investigating!
* Pardon JB? This is the same dumb broad who let two commercial airliners collide in order to "show strength" to militants who were no threat to the US otherwise.
* Any thoughts as to whether or not the Senator heading up the hearings is corrupt?
* Why do I get the feeling that the list of Dubaku's colleagues is incomplete or inaccurate in some way?
* I get the feeling that the Tony Almeida story arc will define the success or lack thereof of the season. If they just keep using his dark past as an excuse to reel us in, I'll be disappointed. If he truly becomes good or evil by the end though, that could be pretty cool. There's potential for a Tony/Jack showdown at the end.
