Ah, but have you heard Joe Carter? A selection of my favorites:
"What you'd really like here leading off the inning is either a hit or a walk."
"He made that difficult running catch look graceful and eloquent."
"Kyle Farnsworth's up in the bullpen... he's got that fastball going in the high-to-low hundreds."
"That right there was what we used to call a swash-buckling curveball."
I think Joe is underrated in the Broadcast Comedy Gold department. Harry gets all the credit, you're right, and the old Hawk and DJ sound drops replayed endlessly on the Score are priceless, but for my money it doesn't get any better than where Joe Carter tells us we "could really use one of those unassisted 6-4-3 double plays."
(Seriously, though? "All of the glory or all of the goat hair?")
I agree, Joe Carter doesn't get enough 'credit' for unintentional comedy. I think there are two reasons:
1. Since he does ESPN, no single fanbase is subjected to him night in and night out.
2. His mistakes are 'limited' primarily to baseball comments. Shannon and Caray do/did say absurd things that have nothing to do with baseball.
The worst part about Shannon is, as my dad says, nobody is as funny as Mike Shannon thinks he is. If curious, tune into 550 AM sometime. You can usually get it in Chicago at night.

Wow. That was AMAZING.
Also, I scored a four. According to the scale: "Not a Cards Fan"
I scored a 2... I've missed his best years, apparently, living in the world of Pat Hughes & Ron Santo.
No.... apparently, it just means you're not a Cards fan.
